Food Security

SGOA addresses food security and nutrition as core priorities for breaking the cycle of poverty in Afghanistan.

We work with partners including UNDP and UN Women to support vulnerable populations—returnees, IDPs, and affected communities—through agriculture, nutrition, and emergency food assistance in remote areas.

Overview

Hunger and malnutrition remain critical challenges in Afghanistan. We align with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and support households to produce food, access nutritious diets, and cope with shocks in crisis-affected and underserved provinces. Our food security and agriculture programmes operate in Kandahar, Kabul, Faryab, Bamyan, Takhar, Baghlan, and Balkh.

Our work helps families grow food, improve dietary diversity, and build resilience against hunger and malnutrition.
