OUR IMPACT ON COMMUNITY!

Distribution of Food Ration Package with support of SFCG

Success Story: Bringing Hope and Nourishment to Needy Families
In the heart of Kandahar, Sustainable Goals Organization for Afghanistan (SGOA) recently embarked on a mission to bring relief to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Among the recipients were forced returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and poor families who have faced immense challenges and hardships.
One such family is that of Fatima, a mother of three, who was forced to return from Pakistan and now resides in Kandahar. With limited resources and no stable income, Fatima struggled to provide for her children. The distribution of food ration packages by SGOA was a beacon of hope for her family. Each package contained essential items such as wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, tea, sugar, and salt—basic necessities that would sustain them for weeks.
Fatima shared her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “This support came at a time when we had almost lost hope. The food ration package has not only filled our stomachs but also lifted our spirits. We are deeply thankful to SGOA for their kindness and support.”
The impact of this initiative extends beyond just one family. In total, 40 families received these vital food supplies, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to meet their immediate nutritional needs. This effort is part of SGOA’s broader commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable communities in Afghanistan.
The success of this distribution was made possible through the collective efforts of our dedicated team, generous donors, and supportive partners. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
As we continue our mission, we remain committed to empowering and uplifting our communities, one family at a time.

UNDP NCSSP Full Project Success Story

In the rugged yet resilient terrain of Kandahar, a story of transformation unfolded, one that would leave an indelible mark on the community’s health and hygiene practices. It began with a vision, a vision to empower the people of Dand and Punjwayee districts with the knowledge and tools to foster a cleaner, healthier environment. This vision was brought to life through the Hygiene Awareness Project, an initiative supported by the NGO/CSO Capacity Support Project (NCCSP) and funded by the Low-value Grant (LVG).
Our involvement with the NCCSP was a serendipitous alignment of our organization’s mission with the project’s objectives. The LVG was a golden opportunity that we seized, knowing well that it could propel our aspirations into tangible outcomes. Over the course of six months, the project became a reality, meticulously planned and executed with precision.
The goals were clear: to educate and equip the local population with the means to maintain personal and communal hygiene. These objectives resonated with the NCCSP’s broader aim of enhancing the quality of life through capacity building and sustainable development. Our project was a testament to this shared vision, as we set out to reach every household with our message of cleanliness and health.
The beneficiaries were the heart of our project—the men, women, and children of Dand and Punjwayee. Their lives were touched not just by the knowledge imparted but also by the practical tools provided through the distribution of 1,050 hygiene kits. These kits, laden with essential items, became symbols of the project’s commitment to its cause.
The road was not without its bumps. The sheer scale of the project, aiming to educate 7,837 individuals, presented logistical challenges. The distribution of hygiene kits across two districts demanded a level of coordination and resource management that was both daunting and critical. However, our dedicated team of 11, including 3 females, rose to the occasion, turning challenges into triumphs through their relentless efforts and unwavering dedication.
The accomplishments were many, but the most striking was the widespread acceptance and implementation of hygiene practices within the community. The quantitative evidence lay in the numbers—7,837 educated individuals and 1,050 distributed kits. Yet, the qualitative impact was seen in the behavioral changes and the heightened awareness that rippled through the districts.
The LVG was the backbone of our success, providing not just the financial means but also the moral support to carry out our initiatives. It was the catalyst that allowed us to leverage resources like Taleem ul Islam radio, thereby amplifying our reach and impact.
The project was a crucible of learning, offering lessons in strategic planning, community engagement, and the power of perseverance. It contributed significantly to our personal and professional growth, instilling in us a deeper understanding of the community we serve.
Looking ahead, our plans are to sustain the impact of the project, to continue the dialogue on hygiene, and to explore new avenues for community development. The LVG period may have ended, but the legacy of the project will live on through ongoing education and advocacy.
To those seeking similar grants, our advice is to approach with a clear vision, a well-thought-out plan, and a heart committed to making a difference. The NCCSP and LVG are more than just funding opportunities; they are partners in your journey towards creating lasting change.
Reflecting on our experience, it is the stories of transformed lives and the smiles of empowered individuals that we cherish the most. These are the true measures of our project’s success, the narrative of change that we proudly share with the world. This success story is not just ours; it belongs to every individual who embraced the message of hygiene and made it a part of their daily lives.
