Who is SGOA, and What we do in SGOA?

The Sustainable Goals Organization of Afghanistan (SGOA) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded with the main goal of providing quality health and social services to communities in hard-to-reach and rural areas of the country. Established on October 21, 2020, SGOA is registered with the Economy Ministry of Afghanistan and focuses on offering humanitarian services to marginalized groups, responding to conflict and natural disasters. SGOA aims to reach the most disadvantaged populations, including internally displaced persons, returnees, poor families, the unemployed, and the uneducated, providing health and legal services.

Our Mission

SGOA is a non-governmental, non-profitable organization which provides Humanitarian Aids and human right services to people without any discrimination on the basis of religion, political ideology, ethnicity, gender, race and language. SGOA aims to align all its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and extend its scope of work in Afghanistan.

Our Vision

SGOA is a local Afghan non-government organization concerned with the rehabilitation and socioeconomic integration of disabled people and other vulnerable groups into the community to break the cycle of poverty through education, Livelihood, WASH, Health, Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and other Legal services in the country.

They aim to promote equality and inclusivity, combat discrimination, uphold human rights, act with transparency, and value teamwork as a means to achieve results and promote trust and non-violence. SGOA aims to align all its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Our Story

SGOA is registered with ministry of economy in 2020 and registered with ministry of public health and SGOA is currently actively partner with UNDP, UN Women, Search for Common Ground (SFCG) in the Southern Region and is the FSAC cluster co-chair for the SR region. Additionally, SGOA is a member of UN clusters such as WASH, ES/NFI, Education, Protection, Nutrition and Health, Moreover, it is a member of UN humanitarian working groups including the Regional Humanitarian Team (RHT), Inter-cluster Coordination Group (ICCG), Humanitarian Access Group, HAG and Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA). SGOA’s due diligence has been approved by AHF, and its UNPP is verified by UNDP and UNICEF.
Furthermore, SGOA has collaborated with the Turkish embassy and the FSAC cluster for distribution of foods for 1000 HH and distributed masks for the prevention of COVID-19. Additionally, we have conducted SDGs workshops for NGO employees and participated with UNHCR in the RAM2 survey in Kandahar province. We are currently implementing UNDP, UNWOMEN, SFCG projects for forced returnees, IDPs, Host communities, women headed families and person with disabilities.

Ongoing and Completed Projects

TURKISH EMBASSY EID QURBANI PACKAGES

SGOA has distributed 1000 Eid qurbani packages to poor vulnerable families with coordination of UN FSAC South cluster and financial support of Turkish embassy’s consulate office in Kandahar

UNDP NCCSP PROJECT

SGOA has successfully completed UNDP NCCSP project in WASH and Health sector under title of (Hygiene Awareness Sessions and Hygiene Kits Distribution in Kandahar ) SGOA has trained 7835 men and women including children in two districts, Dand and Punjwayee, and after training SGOA distributed 1050 Family Hygiene Kits to Vulnerable individuals like Returnees, IDPs, Person with Disabilities, Host communities.

UNWOMEN Capacity Support Program

SGOA has Completed UNWOMEN small capacity support grant project, this grant had multiple opportunities for staff of SGOA

SFCG RNT Capacity Support Project

SGOA is currently implementing Search for Common Ground SFCG RNT project in Kandahar, the aim of the project is to distribute food ration packages to Pakistan forced returnees, the ration package has almost one month full ration items suitable for a family.
